An Ode to Sophie

A girly girl, fond of dresses, dolls and pink.
And yet she rough and tumbles with her brothers.
Hands sticky with glue and glitter, her masterpieces decorate the house.
Enjoys kindy immensely.
Soft brown hair, olive skin, not too short, not too tall.
My four year old. Those dark chocolate pools,
Gazing into mine, a mischievous look I can’t resist.
Slightly skinny, she’ll pick at her dinner.
An affectionate one, her family is her treasure.
Extremely lovable.
You’ll only ever glimpse her in skirts, sandals and pony tails.
She’ll play princesses with a friend one minute, the next,
Jumping on the trampoline in her underwear,
Sprayed with the cold water from the hose.
She’ll shudder when eggs and broccoli are mentioned,
And sometimes scared of dogs.
She hates to see anyone hurt, and screams like it’s the end of the world when it’s her.
The youngest in a family of eight,
Often demands, can be quite rude.
My little sister,
A twirling first year ballet dancer,
Little person with a big personality,
The loudest in the house with the sweetest smile
Is Sophie.

Precious.

Loved.

Just a poetic piece I wrote. I think it was necessary, so that I can always remember my beautiful four year old....
Let the memories never fade.

a ballerina in the making

Sophie started ballet lessons today.
She was so ecstatic to begin (mainly because of what she got to wear for the class!) and was not disappointed by the end of her first lesson at all.
Already, she can't wait to go to her next class and I'm pretty sure this four year old will be talking about ballet lessons until next Wednesday!
My baby sister is growing up and I thought that she ought to have her first ballet shoot before such an important new experience in her life.

flowers in august make me happy

Aren't they just fantastic, flowers? I'm not sure whether any one else has quite the obsession I have when I see pretty flowers. I have to photograph them.
It's the way I roll.

And my sister loves flowers almost as much as me, so we make a good team at this time of year!

kiss, kiss to spring...we both love you!

sophie is hilarious

I have this little sister Sophie. She is small and very funny.

This girl makes my life just so much more fun. She is so adorable, crazy, funny and smart and I love her to pieces.
Life just wouldn't be the same without her.

Here's to another three and eight months more with this cheeky girl!!
Can't wait :)

my three year old model

I have this little sister. Sophie. And today I made her very happy by announcing that it was high time the two of us had a photo shoot together. She immediately wanted to and we went to pick out a dress, paint nails etc. (did i mention sophie's a totally girly girl!)
So after lunch, we went outside (lighting was perfect. just before a storm!) and she posed while I snapped.

And something you should know about Sophie is that she LOVES to dance.

I think she was laughing about something I said.

Oh those dark brown eyes...how I adore them!

She posed herself. This is all her doing!

Photo shoots with little sisters...you never tire of it!

Holly

p.s. sophie isn't always a perfect model, looking amazing for the camera. take a look at these.

yeah, she totally cracks me up (and annoys me!) sometimes...but that's one of the reasons why i love her so much : )
