Yesterday. The 28th of January 2013.
It was one of those days that I will always look back on with pleasure.
Although the garden party we had planned was cancelled, rain beat down and flooding threatened to stop friends from coming, my sisters, friends and I were still able to come together for a beautiful inside party to celebrate the two hundredth anniversary of the publication of one of our favourite novels, Pride and Prejudice.
The afternoon was filled with a beautiful tea party, delightful conversation, writing letters to the characters from Pride and Prejudice, more conversation, taking a quiz on the book and tv series, more cups of tea and coffee and finally ending with a movie marathon for those who could stay on of possibly the best tv series ever made (well, second best, Little House on the Prairie is a smidgen higher!).
So here's to another two hundred years of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice (and Andrew Davie's BBC tv series of the timeless classic!)...there is really no novel quite like it.
Love muchly,
Holly xo
Aw, what a cozy party! Good to hear the weather didn't stop your celebrations!
ReplyDeleteWow! - I had no idea it was the 200th birthday. That was such a fun way to celebrate it. I haven't read the book (only watched the TV series). I must say, I loved it alot (especially Mr. Darcy).

You MUST read the book, it is the best.
DeleteAnd who wouldn't love the tv series...yes, Colin Firth is the best. :)
It was such a lovely time Holly! Thank you for inviting me.
ReplyDeleteWas für eine schöne Party!
ReplyDeleteSuch fun we had, and lots of good laughs! I loved the fact that we were acting far from proper ladies, like wink murderer from instance! hahaha :)
ReplyDeleteOh. how fun! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat is Letters to Darcy?
It looks like everyone had a really good time! :)
'Letters to Mr Darcy' was a little corner we made where girls could write letters to any of the characters from the book, 'Pride and Prejudice'. We kind of got the idea from the movie 'Letters to Juliet' if you know what I mean! :)
DeleteI never thought of the connection of 'Letters to Juliet' and 'Letters to Mr Darcy', because I was wondering where you got the idea from.
DeleteIt was such a lovely afternoon - with so many beautiful memories. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteAww my friends and I did a Pride and Prejudice party once. Such good memories :)

I agree with Elizabeth, Briony and Laura. the afternoon was so amazing and lovely! Thanks for hosting, and taking these lovely photos to remember the event.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! Indoor partys in the rain are really lovely.
